Welcome to Bonniedale Wilderness Ranch!
Established in 1860, Bonniedale Wilderness Ranch is a 1650-hectare off-grid farm tucked between the Outeniqua and Langeberg Mountains, where wilderness and simplicity meet.
Wild horses move freely through the landscape, crossing fynbos and rolling mountains as far as the eye can see.
Very recently acquired (May 2026) and now undergoing thoughtful renewal, Bonniedale is evolving slowly and with intention.
We warmly invite you to be part of our journey.
The property offers the following accommodation:
- Farmhouse (1890s) - 3 bedroom (sleeps 9)
- Applehuis - 2 ensuite bedroom + loft (sleeps up to 9) + hot tub
- Chalet - 4 bedrooms (sleeps min 4, up to 16)
- General camping - 11 campsites
- 2 Private campsites
- 1 Dam campsite
- 7 rough & rustic tents with kitchen
- 3 caravans with shared ablutions
Most sites are dog-friendly but this is prior arrangements only.

The beauty of Bonniedale is unmistakable which is why it's truly been considered a hidden gem of the Garden Route.
Current accommodation options are rustic and basic.
Location
From Cape Town: N2 → Mossel Bay → R328 (Oudtshoorn via Robinson Pass) → Turn left onto dirt road toward Bonniedale/Attaquaskloof (Drie Magrietjies Padstal will appear on your right immediately after the turn) → follow signs
From George (airport): N2 west toward Mossel Bay → R328 (Oudtshoorn via Robinson Pass) → Turn left onto dirt road toward Bonniedale/Attaquaskloof (Drie Magrietjies Padstal will appear on your right immediately after the turn) → follow signs
From Mossel Bay: R328 (Oudtshoorn via Robinson Pass) → Turn left onto dirt road toward Bonniedale/Attaquaskloof (Drie Magrietjies Padstal will appear on your right immediately after the turn) → follow signs
From Oudtshoorn: R328 (Mossel Bay via Robinson Pass) → Turn right onto dirt road toward Bonniedale/Attaquaskloof (Drie Magrietjies Padstal will appear on your left immediately after the turn) → follow signs
From Barrydale: R62 toward Ladismith → after 15km turn right onto dirt road toward Brandriver (look for Brandriver sign) → follow dirt road until you reach the R323 → turn right onto tar road → after approximately 1 minute turn left onto dirt road toward Herbertsdale → follow the dirt road over Jan Muller Pass → approximately 10 minutes after the pass turn left at the farm gate and Bonniedale sign → continue through multiple farms until you reach the Bonniedale gate.

Google maps nagivates accurately to Bonniedale from both the Mossel Bay/R328 side and the Barrydale side - it is by far the easiest way to nagivate. We recommend using it regardless of which direction you're coming from. Simply search for 'Bonniedale Wilderness Ranch' on google maps before you lose cell signal on the dirt road.
